BART stands for the patented Biological Activity Reaction Test. As the name implies, the test detects biological activity by looking for activities and reactions.

Activities relate to growth events such as the formation of clouds, slimes, and gels. Reactions relate to the manners in which the microbes interact within the Bart test.

These reactions may take the form of color changes, generation of gasses, and precipitation.

The unique nature of the test which makes it very different, and possibly superior, to the agar techniques is the fact that the water used in the test all comes from the sample and contains the microbes still within their natural environment.

The water in the agar methods comes with the agar but it is tightly bound.

This means that the microbes have to be taken from the water, placed into contact with the agar surfaces, and expected to “mine” the bound water for growth from the agar.

Many microbes in the environment are not able to easily do this and so may be missed using agar cultural techniques (i.e., no grow, no show, no count and so not important).

The Bart uses a unique system for encouraging the microbes to grow in the test.

With each box of biotesters we include a easy to read manual and MSDS data sheet.

Shelf life of our testers are 4 years, each box contains a certificate of analysis with expiry date and it confirms that the batch listed have satisfactorily passed the QC screening procedures and were approved for release.  

Orders: we send in boxes which can contain 9 field testers or 15 LAB testers. The field testers have an extra outer tube, the Lab testers need a conditioned room and clean desk. Minimum orders contain 1 box, we send by aircargo ( international) or by courier national. Please note aircargo is very expensive if you only order one box.

The special POND testers which can be obtained via HS Products or Aquatic sciences can be sold individually.
